Chassignites
The chassignite subgroup is named after Chassigny, an achondrite which fell in France in 1815. Chassignites are olivine-rich achondrites. Aside from Chassigny, chassignites include Brachina (Australia find). Others Recently, the antarctic meteorite ALH84001 was identified as having originated on Mars. The meteorite, however, does not fit into any of the SNC subgroups and must be classified into a subgroup of its own. ALH84001 crystallized (solidified as a rock) more than 4 billion years ago. It is believed it came from the heavily cratered highlands of Mars, which would make it the only sample from these terrains found so far.
